Irish lace

Hello ladies,

On this St. Patrick's Day, I was thinking about the intricate beauty of Irish lace. I find the graceful scalloped edges and the ivory flowers so charming. You can view historic examples of the art of lace making at irishlacemuseum.com.

The sun filled afternoon also beckoned me to wear green. I chose Color Club's Rebel Debutante for the base. It's a glowing and cheerful green that seems in sync with the emergence of Spring. Using green special polish, I stamped the lace French tip pattern from plate M80. I further embellished the design with white and celadon green pearls.

In trying to photograph Rebel Debutante, I realized the polish contains some neon pigment. The green stamping appears darker and crisper in person. While I love the tone on tone look, I would have chosen white for photographic purposes. The pictures I took with the fluorite crystal point show the contrast best. I placed the bottle picture at the end of the series.

Rebel Debutante was opaque in two coats. I used a ridge filling base coat under this shade and was even more pleased with the application. I noticed a consistency in formula while reviewing the other polishes from the Rebel Debutante collection. I believe if I had used a ridge filling base on every occasion with this collection, I could have had two coat manicures instead of three. Even with three coats, they all still applied well.

I've been experimenting with thinning my Konad topcoat in an attempt to help solve the issue of bubbling I've been dealing with. My next step is to experiment using a different brush. I ran through my bottle of GcocL topcoat that came with the nail art stamping machine. I really wish there were more available options for stamping topcoats.

Color Club Rebel Debutante was sent to me for review. This shade is available for purchase from victorianailsupply.com.

Konad plate M80 was provided for consideration. Konad products can be purchased from ocnailart.com. Please stop by the contest post to enter for a chance to win the eight new image plates from Konad.

Happy painting, ladies!

  6. Love the shade and design. I especially love the thought behind the lace design. I adore beautiful laces. Beautiful work is done by Irish and Italian artisans. Probably other countries have beautiful lace making being done. There just two that I know of.
