Starry garden pinks

Hello ladies,

Today I am wearing Hard Candy Pretty in Punk. The shade reminds me of the bright flowers called garden pinks. I painted Hot Pants as a glittery layer across half my nail. I accented with a holographic stripe and silver rhinestone flowers. There's something reminiscent of the 80's about this look.

I have been wearing the coordinating rings with the polish. I will venture they are a size 6 or 7.

The irises are just beginning to open. It's like a present that unwraps itself.

Pretty in Punk was easy to apply. The consistency of this polish is thin for a creme formula. I really appreciated the application after using thicker big three formulas. I used three coats for opacity, but I think two would suffice for active length nails. The brush is on the smaller side in comparison to salon brands, but I found it workable. I needed very little clean up. I loved Hard Candy in the 90's and I love it now!

I used an Art Club striper in hologram to separate Pretty in Punk and Hot Pants. I drew a thin line first, then applied Hot Pants to one half of my nail. Afterwords, I painted over the hologram line to define it thoroughly. A trick to applying the perfect amount of hexagonal glitter is to first empty the brush of polish. Lots of glitter will adhere to the brush wand. I touched the side of the wand to my nail and used the brush to spread the glitter relatively where I wanted it. Though not entirely precise, it works far better than the traditional painting method.

Hot Pants has a jelly formula with a light purple tint. The base color is slightly visible over Pretty in Punk. It's a great layering note.

Hard Candy Pretty in Punk and Hot Pants were sent to me for review. For more information about the brand, please visit hardcandy.com. Hard Candy cosmetics are available for purchase at walmart.com or Walmart retail locations. For a chance to win the entire Hard Candy Just Nails line of polishes, stop by the contest post to enter.

Happy painting, ladies!

  5. This is really pretty! I really love this one.

From looking at the website, I thought the glitter was more pigmented, but it layers wonderfully over the pink. It actually reminds me a bit of Nubar Sugar. :)

  22. I can't believe I missed a giveaway of polish! This is a gorgeous manicure. This pink really looks divine on you. I love the diagonal stripe. I live the use of the large glitter polish on half the nail. The irises are beautiful. My Mother grew these as well. They really spread the next season and will almost take over a garden. There are so many different varieties. I even have a cousin named Iris!
