Grape Glam

Hello ladies,

Today I am wearing a holographic funky french over a rich purple creme. I used the Konad sponge nail art kit to layer three holographic polishes from the China Glaze Kaleidoscope Collection: Tickle My Triangle, Octa Gone Wild and Sexagon. I took an assortment pictures of this look showcasing all of the different bottles. I would recommend clicking on the images to enlarge, especially with the Kaleidoscope polishes. You will best see the color variation in the tips when viewed against each of the components.

The dramatic purple creme polish is a European brand, s-he stylezone, color number 464. This beauty came to me by way of amused polish.

The bee is hovering over the iris.
He lands on the yellow center of the petal.

China Glaze Tickle My Triangle, s-he stylezone 464, China Glaze Sexagon, China Glaze Octa Gone Wild.

S-he stylezone 464 was opaque in two coats. I can't comment on the ease of application since I was highly caffeinated as I did this manicure. Letting your coffee sit in the French press too long can result in a need for clean up!

I have a couple other s-he polishes to try that I won in amused polish's April Fool's Giveaway. I am excited to share the other shades with you. The package was so much to my taste I felt like I was receiving a present from a very close friend. It was amazing and I am so very grateful!

I have some advice with layering holographic polishes. Check the consistency and find the polish that applies the heaviest and select that color for the first layer. In this case, I began with Tickle my Triangle. I sponged the color over all ten tips. I then added Octagon Gone Wild, followed by Sexagon. The first color should be applied the heaviest and then the other two will be sponged on as accents.

I recently saw a different take on sponge nail art with holographic polishes at Nail Talez & More. Nikki used a kitchen sponge and accented China Glaze Midnight Ride with an assortment of holos. Gorgeous!

Happy painting, ladies!

  3. Thriszha: Thanks so much, sweetie! The color of the s-he polish reminds me of dark purple grapes. We call them black grapes here. <3

  14. tenshi: Wonderful! I love the idea of fairy dust on my nails. <3

prispple: Thanks so much! Purple is my favorite too! I hope Octa Gone Wild comes your way. I wish the Kaleidoscope Collection hadn't been discontinued. It's quite wonderful overall. <3

Jackie S: Thanks so much! :)

Jessica: Thank you! I want to experiment a bit more with holos and see if I can make them into a perfect gradient. This was experimental. It does look like a cross between two techniques. :)

Nikki Warner: Thank you! It's okay. You don't have to talk about your untrieds. Let's say I have a few myself. ;)

  15. Amazing gradient manicure. Love the choices of your polishes. Your floral rings are also lovely. I'm sad that my nails are so short. I broke a few and then a few peeled near the ends. I just chopped them off again. They grow for awhile and then I break one. So frustrating! Vegetable peelers don't help either. Guess I should have left the skin on the cucumber.
