Hello ladies,
The weather was gorgeous in Philadelphia today. I wandered about the community garden for an hour in pure delight. I am wearing a bordeaux shade from the upcoming Fall Collection from Diamond Cosmetics. The polish is called It's Nothing to Wine About. I can forgive its unfortunate name because of the glossy jelly formula and because I love a good vampy.
I decided roses would be best to accompany wine. Using Konad white special polish, I stamped the modern rose image from fauxnad plate P57 . I placed silver spheres in the center of each rose. These were a gift from Andrea over at Black Nail Polish and Lip Gloss. How sweet! I also added pearls and red rhinestones. It's interesting to note the polish is so glossy the camera focused on the shine and softened the sparkle of the jewels.
This flower is a great visual to show how this polish shifts from a very dark burgundy into a brighter wine shade depending on the light.

I needed three coats of It's Nothing to Wine About for opacity. I typically paint thin coats. I used this technique for the first two. The results were streaky. For the third coat, I applied a thicker layer and occasionally dipped the brush in again to make sure each nail was even. I am pleased with the results.
It's Nothing to Wine About was provided for review. This shade is part of the Fall Collection from Diamond Cosmetics. When I hear information about the release date, I will certainly share it here. Happy painting, ladies!
That's one beautiful shade. I love those deep vampy shades. But but do I make a horrible mess when I use them. You would look at my manicure and swear I did it blindfolded. I don't know what it is but I get polish all over the place. I have trouble with black also. I tried to go slow and still a mess! I hate that it stains your skin all around your nails. Love the designs and jewels. It was beautiful today. Shame we can't freeze the weather to stay like this year round! Thanks for all the floral beauty. Makes me feel much better.
ReplyDeleteWow what a gorgeous vampy red!
ReplyDeleteThis colour isn't too bad but I think it looks a little bit harsh. If it had shimmer in it, I think its appearance would improve and look a lot cooler! Once again, I love your konading. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is really gorgeous. I love the design on it and the pictures are, as always, great! :-)
ReplyDeletevery rich color. appropriately named. & yes, the weather was gorgeous! a welcome reprieve from the heat! although we are in for another heatwave. ugh. enjoying today as well. thanks for sharing

ReplyDeleteDiana, I'm sorry to read that your sis has some health issues. I wish her a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous manicure! Me love vamps!!
Do you know what type of flower that dark burgundy one is? I've never seen anything like it...Wow! Is it a type of mum?
Gorgeous flowers and very elegant nails!
ReplyDeleteLucy: Your application story makes me laugh. I use two different sizes of natural bristle paint brushes from the art supply store to help with cleanup. I dip the brushes in acetone and wipe the excess on a paper towel. You aren't alone in needing to clean up after applying a vampy shade. I'll always include flowers in my pictures as long as there are blooms in season. <3
ReplyDelete'chelle: Thanks so much! I love the vampies!
Joan: Thank you! I am glad you like the design. I definitely would not associate this color with you. I do enjoy shimmer in jelly formulas. It gives a little extra something. ;)
Michelle: Thanks so much! I am really enjoying my plates from chez-delaney. Nature is so delightful right now. I spent so much time in the garden. <3
Wow, what awesome photos. I still need to get some Diamond Cosmetics. I don't know what I'm waiting for, they're so inexpensive. I love the nail art too.
ReplyDeleteI always love all the pictures you take best of both worlds nail polish and flowers which alot of the time remind me of my mom's garden! great color btw! might have to get some of the Diamond Cosmetic nail polishs soon!
