A visit to the Philadelphia Zoo

Hello ladies,

This week, my friend Drew took me to the Philadelphia Zoo for my birthday. I made quite a few new acquaintances.  I learned that mountain lions and leopards behave much like my ragdoll cat. I heard a little known fact about giraffes. We witnessed the bane of a 400 pound polar bear and managed to escape a prairie dog uprising.
A mountain lion: acting much like a house cat.

Sun spots.

Running in his sleep.

Ah, the faithful giraffe.

Such careful listeners...

And notorious gossips!

I am scrunching up my face.

Because I am an itchy nosed polar bear.
Scratch, scratch!

Grrrrrrr!
I think I got it!

Ah, relief!

Three for the road.

Does anyone feel like they are being watched?

Will they suspect a diversion?

A hole in one.

Can you dig it?

It was a lovely day! Have any of you experienced any recent encounters with wild creatures?

Happy painting, ladies!

  2. Kimberly: Thanks so much! I was amused when a woman was asking the trainer if she was going to go into the habitat and hand fish to the polar bears! The trainer hurled the fish over the glass using a lacross stick.

  8. It looks like Max showed up at the zoo with his ears pulled back. I believe prairie dogs would make a nice addition as pets in our home. They look like they are in their own little world. Fun pictures! Happy Birthday. Love, me.

Silhouette Screams: Prairie dogs are hilarious! They will gather together and pose in front of the camera. Their tummies need rubs! Love 'em. :)

nail crazy: Thanks! It looks like it would be so cozy to sleep next to a polar bear, but we know better. ;)

Claire: Thank you! Max definitely needs to be in this line up. Would love to see the prairie dogs in a face off with your chickens. :)

  11. Lucy: So glad you enjoyed the photos! There are new baby snow leopards at the zoo. They spend a lot of time in the den in their first several months. I was able to watch the live video of the them with their mother. I really want to return to see them when they are ready to venture out more. Love kitties of all sizes!
